Encounter Celebration is a non-profit organisation, established in 2013 to promote and celebrate the encounter between the French navigator Nicolas Baudin and English navigator Matthew Flinders on 8-9 April 1802 in what is now called Encounter Bay, the waters of the Ngarrindjeri/Ramindjeri people.

Major “Moogy” Sumner AM is a world renowned performer and cultural ambassador of Ngarrindjeri arts, crafts, martial arts and traditional culture, appointed in 2014 as a Member of the Order of Australia for his decades of service to the Indigenous community and cultural education.
